Roasted Pumpkin Seeds with Black Pepper, Garlic Salt and Butter

We have never made pumpkin seeds at home before so it was a big surprise to us to find out how good they turned out…

simple delicious homemade pumpkin seeds

INGREDIENTS

  • fresh pumpkin seeds – washed or not (I like them not washed with bits of pumpkin flesh still on them)
  • garlic salt
  • freshly cracked black pepper
  • few tbs of unsalted butter

EQUIPMENT

  • baking tray

METHOD

  1. Season seeds with garlic salt, black pepper and mix with butter.
  2. Roast in the oven preheated to 180°C (356°F) stirring constantly for about 40 minutes or until golden brown. Seeds should be crunchy, if they are still chewy place them back in the oven for couple of minutes.
  3. Remove from the oven and enjoy.

    This was the first time I ever roasted pumpkin seeds, and they came out delicious, kids loved it but not my partner.

  10. With the risk of sounding terribly stupid, do you eat the whole pumpkin seed? I’ve always gobbled up the inner, green kernels with glee, but the shells?!? Is it safe?

  11. We were eating them with shells, when they are roasted become crunchy… even my 3 year old daughter loved those seeds.
