  • According to the Spanish tradition when the clock strikes midnight you should eat 12 grapes one with every toll to bring good luck for the next 12 months of the New Year. Sweeter grapes represent better months, and those sour ones not so lucky months. I’m not Spanish but we adapted this tradition this year because kids could also participate.

We always have grapes for New Year’s, too! But this sounds like a more fun way to have them. :)

    Happy new year!

    Hi Margot,

And it’s also a good way to get kids of eat fruits :-)

Happy New Year, my dear friend. You have many things to look forward to this year, esp Jan 14th ;-)

Great post! When I lived in central Mexico with a host family in college we did this and I have never seen any mention of it ever since. That was 15 years ago! It was so much fun. I’ll keep this in mind to resurrect for next year.

Happy New Year! I love the idea of this–beautiful, festive and delicious.
